Intrada

Fennica Gehrman

Description

During his more traditional period beginning in the 1930s Aarre Merikanto composed a number of small-scale pieces for orchestra. One of the most popular is the Intrada, a shortish piece rather simple in expression in which a brief but delicate violin solo twice makes its voice heard above the austere and solemn ambience coloured by the French horns.

1930-luvulla alkaneella perinteisemmällä tyylikaudellaan Aarre Merikanto sävelsi useita pienimuotoisia orkesteriteoksia. Niistä suosituimpiin kuuluu Intrada. Se on lyhyehkö, ilmaisultaan melko yksinkertainen kappale, jossa vaskisointien värittämästä karusta juhlavuudesta nousee kahdesti esiin lyhyt mutta herkkä viulusoolo.
